Hi all, today's post is on photos taken in Valencia and is the last blog post for Re-visiting Travel Photos as this was the last destination before catching a flight back home to Australia.
If you're interested in all the details about my Europe trip, locations, celebrations, experience, etc, you can find all the blog posts in the tab - 2019 Europe Backpacking Trip -, or click the link - https://www.jackhamilton.online/blog/categories/2019-europe-backpacking-trip
We traveled to Valencia for La Tomatina, the world's largest food fight which is held in Bunol each year. I've split the photos taken into two. Photos on the Canon 80D and photos on the GoPro Hero7.
Let's start with the Canon 80D photos.
These photos were taken a day before La Tomatina. We went around the town to get our ground of the place. We made sure we knew where the train station was so we didn't get lost on the day. After that, we just wandered around.
Here are my favourite photos from the day.

The colour grade goal for these photos was to give them a really moody contrast with the dark and dull colours and provide a strong presence for the light. As you can see above, the images all have one strong light source, being the sun. The buildings provided strong but minimal light by making the sun funnel through what cracks and crevices it could find. I played to this as much as I could and it slowly made its way to a very rich and dull look. The colours are strong in contrast and saturation but don't pop unless the light has hit them.
You can see the rest of the images taken that day below side by side with the originals.
The next lot of photos were taken at La Tomatina on the GoPro Hero 7. You've probably seen me mention in other posts that I don't like how GoPro photos turn out. Just something about the warp and soft yet harsh textures it does to the image and specifically the faces of people. These ones surprisingly aren't as bad as the ones I've previously re-visited. They have still come out a bit harsh, but I managed to fix it up a little.
I used the same editing technique for these ones with a few adjustments to the brightness and shadows.
Here are my favourites.

I've always liked taking photos of strangers. To me, they make an image special because you've caught a bit of them as they are, and sometimes that's enough the be able to write their whole story in your head. It could be completely wrong but I like the idea of it.
Whilst tomatoes were getting thrown around, and everyone was drinking sangria out of the bottle. Everybody crammed down that small street were all there for the same reason. To have a good time. We got to speak to people we'd never meet again and capture those moments on photo and video. I have no idea who the guy in the image is, but he is having a great time, and so was I.
Below are the rest of the photos from that day.

That's it for this blog post, and for the re-visiting travel photos. Maybe I'll do a 35mm re-visiting travel photos. I'm not sure. But anyway. Enjoy the rest of your day and I'll catch you in the next post. Until then, stay safe! And Happy New Year!
