Hello and welcome back to another re-visiting travel photos blog post. The photos in this post are the last lot taken from London. I skipped over the photos taken in Scotland and have put them in next weeks post.
The majority of photos here were taken at night at the Winter Wonderland festival. One is from the Lumiere night and the last ones are from my third last day in London, before returning home. November 2017, January and February 2018.
Looking at the already edited photos, again, I can see the aqua palette being overused, but comparing them to the other photos taken in London, these fit in a bit more as there is more of a motive to use it. The motive being the neon lights that are visibly in the frame. We know where the source of light is coming from so it doesn't feel completely unnatural with such strong colours being produced.
One thing I really like from the previously edited photos is the natural skin tones I was able to get back into the picture, even with all the different colours lighting up my skin.
For the re-edits I tried to stay more true to the light source and where it was coming from. I played to the directional light and raised the brightness from where it was coming from, while lowering where it wasn't present, giving a good split-tone in the picture.
I did this for most of the pictures, lowering the shadows a lot so the highlights have a stronger presence, without blowing them out. I was able to bump the exposure up to 2 stops without any trouble because of how the originals were photographed. Everything was exposed great, not over or underexposed which was perfect for editing.
While staying true to the lighting, I also stayed true to the colour.
Check out the photos for yourself below.
That's all for today's post. I've linked the videos relating to the pictures below at the end of the post.
Join me next Friday at 12 pm for another post. Until then, stay safe.
