Re-visiting Travel Photos - (The Great Ocean Road - April 2018 - Digital)

This weeks' 'Re-visiting Travel Photos' will be on a one-day bus tour through the Great Ocean Road to the 12 Apostles. Back in April 2018, Caroline and I booked a bus tour from Melbourne to 12 Apostles as we both hadn't been. On 1st April, we met the tour group out the front of the National Gallery of Victoria in the morning, got briefed, and went on our way. We stopped at Torquay, Anglesea, Memorial Arch, Kennett River, 12 Apostles, and Loch Ard Gorge.

The Original photos and re-edits are pretty basic this time around. Mainly just put a preset I created over the photos and tweaked what needed to be tweaked.

I made the white balance warmer for a more 'summer' tone and put the shadows up to make the picture brighter without blowing out the exposure.

On this trip, I also filmed. So if you'd like to check the video out, here is the link.

It was a quick and easy edit, as the filming had nothing to it, just point and shoot, with small briefings.

There are overall, four photos I like from this run.

- The portrait of the train at sunrise. The colours just came together nicely under the pinky/purple sun peaking behind the clouds.

- The portrait sandy entrance to the beach. The green bushes on either side make for a nice frame. Hot sand colour and faded shadows, and a subtle wave crashing on the other side of the entrance makes for a nice point of destination.

- The landscape of the 12 Apostles. The overall fade, low contrast and soft whites make the photo as a whole, nice to look at.

- The portrait shot of the lookout point at Loch Ard Gorge. The photo is very balanced. The horizon line completely centred. Breaking the picture down into 3rds, The lookout takes up the left of frame in the thirds. It balances out the picture. The steady flow of people walking up and down the lookout. The whites of the water in the right of frame. The detail in the rock, the jagged edges painting shadows across the face of the cliff. It feels really composed to me and it all just blends into one with the soft fade overtone.

Thanks for reading, next weeks post will be part 2 of the London photos so make sure you stay tuned for that.
