Sweden; the start of our 6 month Journey

Updated: May 1, 2020

Late last year, back in September, Caroline and I left for Sweden. She planned on surprising her parents and friends who hadn't seen her since she left for Australia mid 2016. We departed September 19th and stopped off in Bangkok for 2 nights. There, we found the heat and some stray dogs. We then had a stop-over of 3 hours in Norway for a connecting flight and landed in Stockholm airport 21st. We stayed in a hostel for one night and then took a bus to Linkoping, where Caroline's friend picked us up and took us to Caroline's parents house; Home. I remember Caroline walking up to the front door and finding it was unlocked, then walking in to find her mum and dad both sitting in the kitchen with no idea who they were looking at. As soon as they realised it was Caroline, her mum broke down and hugged her. This was the first time I had met her parents since I've never been to Sweden and they've never been to Australia. After the meet and greet we dropped our stuff off upstairs in Caroline's room and got settled in for the 2 weeks we were staying in Sweden. The next week was full of visiting relatives and friends and catching up over lost time. I got to see what Linkoping was like and also went to my first Ice Hockey game. We went to Ikea (Would be rude not to), some Swedish lolly stores, and an indoor trampoline place. We went out for drinks, got drunk, played football and went to a football game, had many, many 'Fikas', went to Old Town and saw the aircraft museum. It was an action packed time full of shenanigans.
