Once we got back from our trip to Japan, we realised we had the travel bug and were already planning another trip; that being Sydney.
We left the 1st August for a one week holiday. We kept it small as we didn't have a lot of money, but a week was more than enough time in Sydney. I had never been and neither had Caroline so for both of us it was nice to go somewhere so close but so new. We stayed in a private room at Mad Monkey Backpackers on Broadway, which was about a 25-minute walk to Darling Harbour. Within the week there we checked out all the hot spots such as Bondi Beach, The Rocks, Sydney Harbour Bridge, Sydney Opera House, Chinese Friendship Garden, Luna Park, Manly Beach, Royal Botanic Gardens and Hyde Park. We fit quite a bit in for the week we were there, going out fairly early each day and coming back in the late evening. At the time we had been going to quite a few hot chocolate and burger places in Melbourne and continued the adventure of good taste in Sydney coming across some nice places such as BL Burger and Koko Black. We also asked the locals which were some good 'secret' locations to visit and got directed to Angel Place, a small street closed in by buildings with many birdcages hanging from the sky above. I would love to go back and ride the ferry across the water during summer and have a drink by the docks again. It was a feeling I'll always remember. Sydney is a great place to visit but I feel anything longer than 2 weeks you might start to get bored with it or you might not want to leave.
